Why We Built This Site
West Virginia permits public inspection of court records unless a statute, rule, or court order restricts access. Finding the custodian is often the harder task. Pam Starsick, Gilmer County Circuit Clerk, keeps circuit and family-linked case records. Bridget Norman keeps magistrate case records. State systems also divide access: WVPASS serves eligible circuit records, while Magistrate Case Search returns basic magistrate results. The site brings those official routes, office contacts, and request steps together while preserving the important differences among them.
What You Will Find Here

- Court dates and settings: how to read the court calendar and confirm a hearing date or setting
- Case lookups: how to run a case search by party name or case number through the statewide portal
- Record requests: how court records and certified copies are requested from the clerk of court
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, not part of any West Virginia court, clerk’s office, or government agency. Those boundaries mean it cannot perform official court functions:
- It cannot retrieve an official docket sheet or court file
- It cannot reset or change a hearing date
- It cannot amend, seal, or remove a court case
- It cannot authenticate or certify a document
- It cannot provide advice about a particular legal matter
- It cannot guarantee that a fee, contact, or setting remains current
An official or certified docket, order, or filed document must come from the court or clerk holding the original record. A portal printout is not a certified copy.
Search Partners
Third-party providers operate search boxes appearing on some pages. They control their own services, prices, and results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports the site. Gilmer County Court Docket does not set a partner’s charges or determine what its results contain.
